Abusing realm transfers - 2

In order to prevent unfair competition using BMAH, we have to introduce additional rule:

Guilds that abuse transfer to other realms to buy more BMAH items will be disqualified

This rule will be effective starting from the next raid.

Clarifications from comments:

1. This rule is to prevent real money influencing the PvE race. Requiring additional money hurts popularity of the competition.

2. WoWProgress does not restrict you to play the game as you want, but we can setup our rules for WoWProgress content.

3. This rule does not affect Highmaul raid and the gear that was bought before.

Actually, its entirely fair for these guilds to be disqualified. They are hoarding loot from multiple realm BMAH which sell Mythic Blackrock Foundry gear. I can respect that people do it on their own realm but when you go transferring to multiple servers to buy this gear, that's just breaking the rules for the mythic world first races. Having people who are stacking trinkets is fair and within the boundary since you could legitimately come across it and find out that you can wear 2 of the same trinkets and use it. Transferring to multiple servers to buy gear from the BMAH was not how it was intended to be used. Big gap between the 2.

If we do nothing, then realm transfers, buying items for gold (and eventually for real money) are going to be obligatory for top guilds.

The world first race (the only thing this affects), is not something that Blizzard takes into account when designing the game.

there is a difference between using BMAH and doing what style wars did. in china you have no 3 days transfer CD and it costs roughly 1 dollar 50 cents to transfer. They had 78 BMAH pieces over their 22 raiders. A average of like 3.7 695 pieces. paragons and method had like 5 pieces total each...... How is that fair that they abuse china's cheap transfer and no transfer CD?

Pretty sure manaflask is going to be considering dropping them as well, go read all the comments and they are not happy about the shenanigans that StyleWars used either.

We are not doing it either. The rule will be effective from the next raid.

from what ive been told it costs 60 Battle.net points. they cost roughly 20 dollars for 500 point. Not sure if numbers are completely accurate but they do not have a 3 day transfer window over there.

There's someone who finally noticed that BMAH could cause "inequality".

In the past ten years, when patches/expansion packs were released, Asian servers were always the last one to receive them. When Asian players finally could begin raiding, EU/US players were already days ahead.

No one complained about that in the past ten years and everyone think the game is clean & fair.

    Interesting.

It's probably because Europe is a day behind from the US too, yet we get all the world firsts.

Western players dislike paying real money to gain a competitive advantage (if the same advantage is cheaper in China, it only makes the dislike more intense).

Alt raids are something that requires effort, which is lauded in any sport over things that you can buy.

It's true the world race is never completely "Fair" due to different start times, potential server issues, and a dozen other things. That said, any guild going for world first will use every tool at their disposal, and we can all agree that, however distasteful, nothing style war did was against the rules. When one of the tools available to top guilds becomes problematic (BRF mythic gear on the BMAH for example) the solution is not to disqualify guilds or to "ban" legal practices, and it is certainly not to require everyone to live with that tool being out there. The solution is to remove the tool. The solution here is for Blizzard not sell loot from bosses that have never been killed on the BMAH. PS: Universal releases would be awesome too! My vote is for something like noon PST on Tuesdays.

The only "fair" solution to a genuine world first race is to make a certain mode of an instance that is like challenge mode where it scales your gear to the same and opens to all regions at the same time. To make it extra fair, no ptr testing for these bosses. This will never happen, but it would make the race exciting again and not only be between ~4 guilds. Would also prevent tiers being demolished in 3 days.

I am not clear why does Wowprogress put this rule here? the decision made by wowprogress means something made by BLZ?

"fair" is a complicated concept that can be accepeted in different ways. As someone said above, "There's nothing fair about the world first race. Its up to the individual guild to decide how much effort they want to put in". Some guilds just did a better preparation than other guilds before race. why can a better preparation such as buying items made by guild before race be seen as "unfair"? to the other guilds? In other words, for example, style war just did what they should do before race, a better preparation. However, some did not do that, therefore it should blame style war was on a "unfair" competitation?

If you want to discuss region-based time difference please refer to this post: http://www.wowprogress.com/post/115
Delayed content patch releases in different regions must be addressed to the game creators, you as customers should do that.

Compensating late start with gear for real money cannot be discussed here.
