This is a short FAQ & About post. Please read if you have any questions.

What is DiabloProgress?


DiabloProgress is a Diablo 3 Database and Community Website for advanced Diablo 3 players.
It was created by authors of WoWProgress, the biggest WoW Rankings Website.

How do you get the data? Do you steal the data from Blizzard?


The data is retrieved via official Battle.net API.
We are on the light side.

How do I add my characters?


Just enter your Battletag in the search form.

Some of my characters are missing


Press "Update Now" button on your character list page.
We are loading 55+ level characters only.

How often the data is updated?


All characters are updated automatically every few days.
Top 1000 characters are updated automatically every few hours.

Do I have to register in order to update my data?


No.

Do I have to update my data manually?


No, we update every character, you don't have to do that.
But if you want a faster update, just press "Update Now" button.

Why my DPS is wrong?


Dismiss your follower and disable all buffs.

Okay, I dismissed the follower and disabled my buffs, but my DPS is still wrong?


You have to change every secondary skill that increase your damage.
Secondary skills are buffs too. Double-check it, please.

DPS still doesn't match with DPS in-game


Yes, there can be some difference, about 10-1000 damage.
We are going fix it, but don't have time yet.

I think Heroscore formula must be changed/improved


We are going to improve Heroscore in future.
Your ideas are welcome, just keep in mind that Heroscore must not depend on classes and skills.

Aren't these top characters bots?


No.

    BTW: is meleedmg-reduce / rangeddmg-reduce included in your EHP formula ?

    Yes, melee and ranged dmg reduced are included in EHP.

    The modifier is average of melee and ranged, so that if you have 4% melee dmg reduced and 0% ranged dmg reduced, your EHP improved by (4 + 0)/ 2 = 2%

    I think that's a bit of a crude way to do it. If you have damage reduction "x" vs melee (in fractional units), then the EHP is multiplied by 1/(1-x). I think you should average the EHP factor of each one, rather than the damage reduction itself.
    Let's say melee damage reduction is x, and ranged damage reduction is y. You would say z = (x + y)/2 and then multiply EHP by 1/(1-z).
    Instead, I think you should do the following: define A = 1/(1-x) and B = 1/(1-y), then multiply EHP by the average of these factors,(A+B)/2.
    Just a suggestion.

    Hey,

    I want to point out that there is a difference between having a 18% life gem socketed and a 31% + experience gem in the helmet. 31% + XP has higher Heroscore (200 approx) than 18% life gem. Maybe it is just in my case because i am rang 2 EHP and i have a lot of +life %.
    It would be great if life % and XP has the same Heroscore :)

    I checked it again and it is a difference of 424 Heroscore! 14000 Heroscore with 18% life socket and
    14424 with 31% XP socket. And I am not wearing any + XP gear nor my Enchantes.

    Why isn't Increased Damage Against Elites factored into the DPS score(and subsequently Heroscore). I know that Reduced Damage from Elites is listed on the left side column, but is it factored into the EHP score (and subsequently the Heroscore)?

    I'm updating Heroscore so that it will include these elite bonuses.
    In Heroscore formula, DPS will be multiplied by (1 + elite_dmb_bonus * 0.75) and EHP will be multiplied by (1 + elite_reduce * 0.75)

    I'm not going to change DPS and EHP values at the moment.

    There are still things that are not clear with the bonuses.
    How do they stack with other modifiers?
    It could be like this: (1+mod1)*(1+mod2)
    Or like this: (1+mod1+mod2)
    End results will be different.

    Quick question... do you guys have a public EHP calculator that players can use? I can find EHP calculators, but they don't match with your formulae and I'd rather know exactly what I am getting before I buy.

    Would also be happy about an answer of this question. The only way i know how to use it is to look up items similar to the auctionhouse and use the "+compare"-button. Mostly the part you try to look up differs too much from the part others have.

    Oh yeah... also any chance of creating the possibility of hosting guilds on your website like you can apparently for WoW. I'm not sure, I don't play WoW, but WoWProgress seems alot more functional than Diabloprogress at the moment. You guys probably very busy :D Improved content almost everyday :D Blizz should pay you guys, created an element of PvP that's desperately missing in D3. You guys stopped me from quitting cos I realised how close I was already to the top (26th), so I might as well push on.

    I really wish you guys would include +damage modifiers from items into the "unbuffed dps"

    Example:

    A belt that give you +12% bash damage.
    You would need to use that skill of course for it to count.

    That's a tricky one... along with %dmg vs elites. U obviously cannot consider it equal to pure dmg, but also it is clearly useful. Maybe skill bonuses shud count about 20%-50% and elite bonus should count 10%-30% of their actual dps calculation. In practise I suppose they will just use whatever Blizzard chooses to include in their dps, so players can match their ingame value with Diabloprogress value.

    Ye that gonna b hard to balance, i just feel what the "unbuffed dps" is showing is misleading..

    I can copy something i wrote in a other forum as an example.

    "This "math" wont b accurate, but it will show my point.

    Diablo progress show my unbuffed dps to b 133k. And i know my ingame dps whitesheet dps to be 566k dps fullybuffed with battle rage + berserker.

    566/133= ~4.25

    So i get 4.25 times as much damage when i have all my passives up + battle rage + berserker.

    Stats from diabloprogress:

    "Meat" (Tony#1967) = 165k dps unbuffed.
    "dtx" (Det0x#2856) = 133k dps unbuffed
    "Braums" (Skerge#1622) = 123k dps unbuffed

    If we now just simulate our fully buffed dps we would get:

    "Meat" (Tony#1967) = 165k dps unbuffed x 4.25 = 701k dps
    "dtx" (Det0x#2856) = 133k dps unbuffed x 4.25 = 565k dps
    "Braums" (Skerge#1622) = 123k dps unbuffed x 4.25 = 523k dps

    Now we take the damage modifier into account:

    701k dps x 1.65(bash) = 1157k dps for Tony
    565k dps x 2.46(throw) = 1390k dps for dtx
    523k dps x 1.85(z) (frenzy) = 968k dps for Skerge

    z= i dont know if this number is correct for a frenzy with 5 stacks.

    I regenerate 292,532 Effective Life Per Second... yet it doesn't count anything? I can stand in triple stack desecrate or arcane beam and afk Diablo/Azmodan/Ghom and stuff...

    Could you please add rankings for those "less popular stats"? e.g. my WD has over 1000 dexterity (for dodge) and I would like to compare it with other WDs (of course somene could potentially abuse this, but my WD has dps gear + dex)

    I know the colors of the ranks in profiles mean something (green, blue, purple, orange, etc..)
    Is it based on percentiles? or is it just top 10 = orange, 11-100 = purple, etc..?
    What is the specific breakdown of colors to rank?
    I tried looking around for an answer and couldn't find anything.

    Hey.... Good point... when u put the thorns on your pets, it works great for mobs... although, it does not work as well against bosses, it is great for mobs and multiplaying... I use it...

    Hello

    At the moment, it seems like Diabloprogress doesn't recognize a Hellfire ring when you have it equipped, so it treats it like an empty ring slot, and scores your hero accordingly.

    In the FAQ it says top 1000 characters are updated every few hours. My hero score ranks 800 something but I have to update it manually. If it is the case, this sites fails to include the very top players in the ranking if those players never manually visit this site to update.

    Love the site, really informative. I was just wondering about the item score. How does it work? What is it out of? What is a good score? Does it differ from peice to peice, or do all pieces have the same potential item score? Interested if anyone can enlighten me. Thanks.

    Imho it would be gr8 to have itemscore summary.
    We have now our items and their score available to us, but it would be nice to have some summary how much overall itemscore counts, it would save quite much work countingit all over again whenever we change gear parts.

    How to Link Your Battletag to Profile:
    1- Type in your battletag in the Search box
    2- Select one of your heroes
    3- Click on [edit my info]
    4- *IMPORTANT* Complete the list of tasks in precise numerical order (pay close attention to what slots should be equppied/unequipped)
    If you followed the instructions precisely, then you should see this message to the left of [edit my info]:

    Registered to: "YOURBATTLETAG" - confirmed

    If that does not appear, then you probably messed up :X...I hope this was helpful to some fellow player out there and if you have any questions feel free to message me ^_^

    My profile won't update.
    I've use the "Update Now" on my main profile and on my Monk, but it still won't update..
    I've done this several times a day for over a week now, but it still won't update..
    I've even made an account to this site, where I've tried to use the "Confirm Hero" function (which tells me to equip/unequip specific items, etc.) but it just says "Please wait.." for a long time (over 45 minutes)..

    You should calculate on PVP DUMMY FORMULA, the "elites reduction and damage against elites" cause from new patch 1.0.7, those will give a good damage reduction/increase against players.

    I am player of D3, thankyou for building this ladder. However there is a problem about WD pvp dummy ranking.

    char name "怒發沖冠為紅顏" there are 2 same char name, exactly the same gear in the ranking, although they are in 2 different battle tag, they are the same char. Once u click to battle.net from d3progress, it show the same player with the same battle tag

    Seems his battle tag has change once, then the ladder think they are 2 players. Please take a look and fix it ASAP, thanks

    What's going on with the items database? Searches are resulting in several blank line items with "--" in place of the item name...

    Diablo 3 bug happens hen you change battle tag. Since i changed mine, i can't update my caracters.
    onkmeup#2769 is still active in my profile and i can find my new battletag with my caraters but can't see my gear and i can't link my new battle tag since i can't see my gear.

    old battle tag : onkmeup#2769
    new battle tag : Kabstart#2711

    Please remove stats added by gems to a weapon or any item. Socket is an item attribute, not the inflated dps it gets from a Ruby. Makes weapons searching useless.

    Any way to manually update paragon level? Level 72 atm but even when updating multiple times it seems stuck at 30 in diabloprogress profile while my gear is actually up to date (Ferio#1381). Thanks in advance :)

    why is the PvP dummy score not taking into account the dps vs elites and reduction vs elites?

    a lot of players with 28-35 red vs elites and 6% dps vs elites are placed lower than some with a lot less effective EHP and dps.

    it would be nice to have an ehp vs elites number and base PvP dummy score on that.

    Yes, there can be some difference, about 10-1000 damage.]
    We are going fix it, but don't have time yet.

    In my case the diference is about 70k +, whats wrong?

    My char in HC has died three days ago, but it is still in my herolist without the tag"R.I.P." . I have clicked "refresh" for many times but the char still intact.

    Hellfire Ring problem (fixed)

    Note that Hellfire Ring is still missing in the Battle.net API.
    If your profile has this ring equipped, all your stats DiabloProgress will be invalid. It's better to replace the ring for awhile.
    Blizzard developers promised to fix the issue in a few days.
